| Healthpark Surgery Center - What To Expect |

A typical visit is broken into four stages:
Patients should arrive one hour before the procedure is scheduled to begin. You must arrange transportation to and from the Center, as you will be unable to drive after the procedure. Family members may wait in one of two waiting rooms, or be given a pager to be alerted when the procedure is finished. Registration involves filling out a form, verifying insurance coverage or other payment method, and providing authorization for the procedure. Approximately thirty minutes before the procedure is to begin, you will be called by a nurse to pre-op where you will disrobe and change into a sterile surgical gown. It is best to leave jewelry and watches at home. You will rest comfortably on a bed, covered in warm blankets. Your clothes and other belongings will be placed in a container and will be waiting for you in the recovery room. When all preparations are finished and your doctor is ready, you will be wheeled into the procedure room, transferred to the operating table, and an anesthesiologist will administer medication, if your doctor has so prescribed. After the procedure is completed, you will be transported to the recovery room. A team of caring, skilled nurses will monitor your recovery until your doctor determines you are ready for discharge. Upon discharge you will be wheeled in a wheelchair to the front ramp where your transportion will be waiting. |
